This would've been an interesting take on the series. Miyamoto has said that he wanted a playable girl character to be a part of Link's team (though for ALttP and not OoT).

Egg bombs? I think Link stole some items from Mario coming the Paper games (you can make some Egg bombs by mixing a Fire flower + Mystic Egg, in PMTTYD/Super Paper Mario, or Egg Missiles from PM1: same recipe but with the Egg and it aims only 1 enemy)
