Description At the San Diego Zoo again. This is one of the fully-grown female Clouded Leopards they had a while back. She's really small, but very very pretty.

The males are twice that size. I've seen Norman, the female's grandfather - he's gigantic...

Another very nice shot. We have some snow leopards at the Kansas City Zoo, but I think that's it as far as leopards go. We do have a spotted jaguar and a black panther though. Couldn't get a good shot of the jaguar today.... he was sleeping on the fencing that goes over the pathway, and was majoryly backlit by the sun.

This would be a nice reference photo for a Clouded leopard.

Very nice shot. Very clear and concise. Though, I wish the head was facing me. I really like the pose, however.

Yeah - I'm very very lucky to live in the town of the best zoo in the world. *biased* of course...

I should load a couple of my cheetah-walk pix. Be prepared to seethe with jealousy....

The clouded leopards are some of my faves. They're just beautiful, heavy looking, elegant, solid cats. Their paws are GIGANTIC.

Our town has a nice outdoor zoo for like cold weather creatures. However, it's rather lacking on the more warmer climate creatures. Though last I was there, it had 2 clouded leopards too. (Minnesota state zoo) However they were in one of those false evening type set ups. As for cheetahs.... *just grins alot.* I think my faves are clouded and snow leopards, cheetahs and tigers. Well...siberian tigers. Not fond of the bengals all that much.

I think actually that your zoo (or one in your state) was one that they were looking for a mate from, something like that.

I went to the National Zoo in Washington DC, but .... was unimpressed. I did see a number of animals I'd never seen before - beavers, bobcats, some native wildlife that our SDZ doesn't concentrate on. But the upkeep of the place and the fact that animals keep dying there... does not encourage me at all. If they'd charge to get in, they'd be able to keep the animals in better health there.

Ah well. Must have kitties.
