Description
the second of the blackest night themed commissions purchased from and one of my personal favorites out of the four.Maria's underlying motivation is undoubtably compassion, she joined the GD army in a time of trouble to help protect people and when she saw that the military wasn't always the best way to do that, she left to act as an SG operative in the hope she could do so then, time and again she puts herself in the line of fire to protect people, and though love defines her relationship with Lara, compassion also plays a major part as she does whatever she can to help and protect her.
Also, some other notes here, it's eerily appropriate that she's wearing a bandage on her left arm, since her hand was injured in a fight in the first chapter of LL&L, bit of serendipidy there, I don't know why her clothes are shredded though... obviously something to do with how she became a Indigo lantern in this continuity. and finally, I know she usually pilots a spaceship, but she grew up with tales of death-defiance in jet fighters from a time when humanity was still confined to earth, so when conjuring a hard-light construct it would be what she would reach for.

Happy coincidence then, it would have been based off of her memories of aircraft that would have to her been ancient technology, given that she lives far in the future and all.
Of course she isn't normally a indigo lantern, she's just "cosplaying" as it were.

This is my favourite of the four, though they're all good. The stripped-down version of her costume is really sexy, as she doesn't normally wear ervealing clothing.
One question: ethnically, is Maria caucasian or Eurasian? She looks both in various pictures.

Yeah, I have to confess it's my favorite too, the clothes are a nice change of pace for her, and those tattoos kinda suit her for a similar reason, she's generally not the type to get tattoos after all...
A good question, I imagine she has heritage of both, after all, the race lines weren't so easily defined once human beings spent about 200 years mushed together in spaceships and colonising various worlds, everyone tended to get jumbled together, and that was all after another couple of hundred years on earth blurring the race lines, so yeah, some artists just emphasized some aspects more than the others.
Also, I think I've got a cool idea for what the earth in the LL&L universe currently resembles... first i was just going ot have it utterly abandoned and uninhabitable but now...

That's exactly the concept I had when designing my Shepard in Mass Effect. She has asian and caucasian elements, and her skin is a deep chocolate brown. I envisaged her as having the best traits of all the human races, and ethnicity tended to get mixed together.
Maria seems fine as a racial mix; as you say, some artists make her look more asian than others.
I've been spending some time making my Fallout New Vegas character lately - she's supposed to be mixed Italian and Chinese.

No, I don't have the game yet! But the face-maker is identical to FO3, so I made the face and wrote down the specifics so I can make 'China Blue' quickly when I have the game!

Hmm, Kelly Hu (Scorpion King) as Maria, and Ellen Page (Whip It) as Lara (with her hair dyed red, obviously). Kelly is pretty and Eurasian, and Ellen is as fiesty as anything.
How about Summer Glau (Serenity) for Morgana? She looks the part and is used to playing mystical powerhouses.
Incidentally, Dragon (not sure what to call you!) I saw you comissioned a picture from Radprofile. I love his work. Which of your characters did you pick?
