Description More of my environmental landscapes can be seen in my DA "Photo Gallery":

The unique aspect of this photo is that it was taken from my car window in the middle of the stream. The Burnt Fork Road in Uinta Co. Wyoming abruptly crosses Cottonwood Creek at a concrete ford. Sometimes this ford is bone dry. 2015 however, was a very rainy year. The cliff in the background contains the type section of the Sage Creek Limestone within the Eocene Bridger Formation.

Before the fabled "Mountain Men" of the 1820's exterminated the regional beaver population, this creek was once green and wet every year. Nearly 200 years ago when the fur trappers arrived this drainage was lined with a forest of cottonwood trees. The solitary dead tree in the photo is a testament to ecological destruction.

The lone tree reminds me of this book that I read back in grade school: www.amazon.com/Tree-Trail-Holl…
