Description I have just finished this work for the 2008 Sakuracon Anime Festival in Seattle. I decided to do my own take on the subject of Fuu and Mo-mo from Samurai Champloo. Since this kittyfied version is distinct from said characters I have put my own (c) on it.

This illo was done with multiple layers of Prismacolor and acrylics, i.e. paint over pencil over paint over pencil. The sky isn't falling out of the background. In fact the blue was painted over PINK paper!

It took me waaay too much time for the price I would hope to get for it. It is actually three-dimensional. You can run your finger over the surface of the original and feel the raised texture of the silk kimono pattern. I am especially happy with the cherry blossoms.

Wow, that is both beautiful and cute. Fuu looks very cute as a catgirl, and I love your rendition of momo.

The colors are bright and vibrant, and I love the pattern on the kimono.

THANX. I only wish that people would look at this in proportion to the effort that went into it. It would take millions of Yen to reproduce that kimono pattern for real.

Thanks,

This style is inspired by the minimalism of Japanese prints and the works of French Impressionists such as Monet and Gaugan who were themselves ispired by the same source. The cherry blossoms were not as complicated as they may seem. I sort of resolve them out of the background in stages the way that Maxfield Parrish did.
