This fossil is a specimen of the dominant plant of Gondwanaland during the Permian Period. It was found on a mountain side in Antarctica. It is an extinct form of seed fern that grew as tall pithy trees. This is a detail from a larger slab on display at the Burke Museum in Seattle.
