Description More photos of my 2013 Dinosaur Road Trip can be seen in my DA "Paleo & Sci Illo" gallery:

This so-called "Grand River Museum" in Lemmon, South Dakota is far off the beaten path. I don't know how it remains in operation as yet another roadside Creationist tourist trap. The displays inside include one dedicated to Noah's Flood!

Instead of Adam and Eve with dinosaurs we get a cowboy on the back of a Triceratops. I suppose that makes dinosaurs the contemporaries of the buffalo herds of the Old West. This entire stature is made out of old auto parts and pieces of farm machinery.

Now that's a "trike" I'd love to ride! I think that's the first thing I've ever seen that made me want to visit South Dakota... they should put this in all the brochures!

That info wasn't available when the sculpture was made. BTW: I discovered a partial Triceratops skull this week which may have associate soft tissue impressions.

As dumb as that "museum" is, that sculpture is pretty damn awesome.

The sculpture was probably commissioned. I have seen this sculptor's work elsewhere but I do not know his name.
