Had some free time when the internet went down(not the internet! ) and so since we are getting close to book two(was going to start in January next year, but things have gotten complicated at home and probably won't start now until sometime in Feb. (The plan now is to finish book one before my birthday on Feb. 2nd.)
Anyway since book two is around the corner, with my no-internet time I was messing around with ideas for the cover for book two. This started as a mock-up for it(and still might be) but then I got into it and added details and color. First time drawing scars too. (Nowhere near as good as the art of my version of Radiant Hope PonySunrise did for me, but she has far more practice at them than me. ) What do you all think of the scars? Probably a little too 'fresh' looking for old scars I think, but still learning.
Had a lot of fun drawing the 'regular' Alicorn Amulet and my 'own' version (explained in story of course) and making them shiny and all. (Though I SUCK at symmetry! x.x) What do you guys think of them?
Last thing to work on that I haven't done nearly enough is expressions. (Heh most of the time my ponies/etc are nice and happy and smiling, not so here. Are the expressions clear? *knows she is asking a lot of questions but eh.... want to make this good as can be for final product if I decide to use this instead of doing the cover traditionally(which is what I kind of want to do since book one's cover is traditionally drawn.)
Have a few different shading styles(I think, heh) and lots of layers(think 10 this time) to get things to look just right. Still could use a clean-up of a few spots but since it is just a mock-up(at this time) figured it was good enough for now.
Characters if you have read my story are from top left to top right and continuing: Radiant Hope, Queen Chrysalis(should be obvious heh), Dew Song, and Shiny Whistle.
