Duxford Spring Air Show - 26th May 2013. This airshow was commemorating the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the 78th Fighter Group of the US Air Force back in May 1943 or better known as the 'Mighty 8th' .
Colonel Clarence ' Bud' Anderson, now aged 91, flew over from the US to be the Eagle Squardon's Guest of Honour for this show. He completed 2 tours of combat during WW2 with the 357th Fighter Group flying P-51 Mustangs from RAF Leiston totalling 116 missions & shooting down 16 & a quarter enemy aircraft. He was also decorated 26 times & in 2008 was inducted into the Aviation Hall of Fame.
After his flight in the TF-51D Mustang 'Miss Velma', he jumped into a jeep & is seen here being driven along the crowd line to salute the crowd.
