I was thinking making the Spirit Quartz an old member of Pink Diamond's Court. She came down to Earth with her Diamond to colonize and ended up staying on Earth. Over the years she became more like a Goddess to certain people of the planet due to her abilities. I'm thinking about keeping these two together. Sapphire is her right hand, almost High Priestess of Spirit Quartz. Just an idea though. I've been thinking about this since the first time I saw these two. Their designs just screamed mystical to me so I want to try to tie that in.

I love those ideas though! Spirit defs has goddess like qualities about her, im sure more ancient people would think shes a deity!
And thats perfect for sapphire, i wouldnt think of anything else for her honestly. When i drew her i had it in mind that shes very dignified and wise, possibly snooty but she definitely has a high ranking so its common sense!
Also you have free reign to change their design however you like, just so you know! So if you have any ideas to make them more mystical thats fine by me!

For the idea of who she'd be, well. I'm not sure if I'll make this specific Lapis adhere to the story I thought of, but if you have no problem with it, I'd like to think it could be hers! You created her, though, so I want your two cents concerning it.
You know how in the latest Steven bomb, Blue was like, "I want to know what she thinks we're going to do with her, because I want to do something worse."
Something I was thinking about was, what can be worse than shattering? Corruption? I mean, one could argue that the corruptions aren't exactly coherent, but usually, if left alone, they're relatively happy.
Anyway, that got me started on thinking what might be worse for a gem. Then I thought about when Greg told Rose that love was the worst torture, and she got suddenly super serious and immediately apologetic. So there is a form of torture for gems on homeworld, and I thought, how would you even do that?
But then I saw Wonder Woman, and the beach on her island was made of eroded glass and stone. The idea hit me then. What if some Lapis Lazuli have the purpose of doing that, eroding gems in order to find out information or as a form of punishment? I thought, "If I had a Lapis and gave her this story, what a good reason she'd have to try and get out of homeworld and join the crystal gems."
It could be so angsty, and I was thinking of a fanfiction for it too. Sorry if the idea is a bit too much...

I absolutely love this idea like geez, how cruel and awesome o u o Id like to think they wake the gems up between "rollings" (though you did say to find out information so they would be woken up). But they could roll them partially to disfigure a gem, or very far to just make them in pain. gosh. also it wouldnt be like a crack that gets worse, it would just stay that way and never shatter unless shattered, which would make there no way, well, out.
I made her design but youre the one paying for the right to use her anyway you want, so you dont have to even ask! But i really appreciate you sharing the ideas, i really like them, thank you

I love that idea! Cryptid gems would totally work with the idea of cracked gems, too! Like, a moonstone that only comes out at night and resembles a wolf, but also is humanoid? WEREWOLVES. A butterfly jasper for Mothman, who is this regular gem, but reduced to a more insect-like physique (like Centipeedle, only cracked instead of corrupted?), with butterfly wings? GENIUS. The Flatwoods monster would make a really cool cracked peridot gem?
Idk if you'd run with these ideas, be my guest if you want to(!) but I think that's a really cool concept you came up with! I kind of really want to doodle some other cryptid gem ideas now... like a Loch Ness Lazuli? or a mermaid lazuli (more commonly done)? a Bigfoot topaz? So cool
