Description

And barely sliding in with only half day left to closing, smashed this together in a few days after misremembering the closing date and confusing it with Aidil Fitri.

I chose the Kota Darul Ehsan arches located on the Federal Highway, marking the border between KL's Federal Territory and Selangor state (with some futuristic hologram sign additions).

Why not then, go a little further into town and do Petronas Twin Towers? I want scale comparison, a 100m jaeger would barely touch the skybridge. The arch and highway will better show the jaeger's size, and what's PacRim without a smushed car? Sure, this isn't dynamic or fancy-looking as the other entries, I instead paid due diligence to Jaeger-ness.

The bot is Ekor-5, Ekor for 'tail' and 5 for the numbers of limbs. It's a 3-pilot Jaeger, one controls the tail that acts as 3rd arm, rear guard, stabilizer and weapons platform (hidden in tail base and segments). Ekor is also a chunkier model based on the early generations akin to Cherno, Horizon, Romeo and Ronin.

Inked traditional, A4, digital colors.

International contests are tough, I'd like to win something but I'd be just as chuffed to get an honorable mention.

Like the addition of a tail on a jaeger.

Great take with the cartoonish celshading style. glad to see it put into practice. The contest is overfloded with painterish renderings it's a breathe of fresh air to see someone actually use some stylized approach to their work.

It's what I can come up with in the last minute. Could be prettier with a bit more time.

Unfortunately 'pretty' is key, art contests are like beauty pageants, painterlies tend to have a better chance at winning.

Yes, that last statement is true, but I admire artists that are willing to take their chances for actual expression instead of going with the trend. It's what sepoerates a good artist from a great one

as predicted, almost all semi-finalists are painterly. That aside, some are not even jaegers, like a 500m tall super robo and one that has got to be a troll pick.
