Description Little chickens seek the help of the biggest chicken they know to rescue their little chicken friend.

Some things are little strange with this, like Hoh's eye color and Haak's comb / wattle. It's part of optimising all the Zodi's look. On the side, trying a style for the comics they'll eventually star in.

I also want to address the problem with anthro characters in world building: A dissonance of greater and lesser of creatures. Would the Zodis still regard the less-bright of their species as kin, or side with man and sapience? Would Haak be offended if a human ate chicken in his presence? I can do an all-anthro world but that presents a problem for Hoh, whose cuisine is then limited to vegetarian and fish, and the matter of food overall. It's not the big things that make a world feel grounded, it's the smaller things like eating.

I'm also still using the old Patreon logo because the new one is dumb.

Those chickens seemed smart enough not want to be cooked and eaten.

First I'm really happy if your zodiac will get their own comic, I book one of them until then

For anthro/animal prolem I think a flexible solution is the best; no chiken in chinise like cuisine have not much sense, maybe rabbit and roster anthro won't eat their little ancestor, and be vegetarian. At the same time meat is accepted for other antrho animal, as tiger and dragon etc, as a necessary food.
This is my personal idea, based on the hypotesis that anthro animal are more than simple evolution of simpler animal, because your world is influenced by magical and mystical powers.

"What..... Didn't you descend from lizards?"

"Evolved"

"If you are using that term as an indicator of superiority, you don't fully grasp the concept."

"Put her down"

"I was planning to"

"Onto the ground"

"I swear, if everything becomes a pet we will starve..."

"Down, now."

Agreeing with AbygaelCrasfali , you could consider your anthro species as bigger, more intelligent relatives of normal animal species but not necessarily the SAME species, as per their comparison of humans to other primates.

Additionally I like to refer to what I call the "Narnia benchmark." In the Chronicles of Narnia series the intelligent animals who were capable of speech were held above normal "dumb" animals as being closer to humans. They accepted that "dumb" animals would be made into food and that was just the way of the world.

Honestly, to a reader, the issue is only as complicated as YOU want to make it. If you gloss over it, a reader can suspend their disbelief and go with the flow pretty easily. I don't think you need to worry too much.

Oh, that's awkward...

You could also do what Usagi Yojimbo did, where some animals are anthropomorphized but others aren't, and some of the non-anthros are changed to fit into niches that the anthro'd species occupy in our world. For example, horses were people so they rode giant lizards instead. You could even have it be that only the zodiac species are anthropomorphized and the rest are still just animals.

This could be like us humains. Humans are animals too, and there people who eat meat and fish, and others who don't.
Are we funding offensive than someone eat monkey? Maybe maybe not, but this could be a story between them, since chicken is one of the most eated meak on the planet.
Like one tried to convinceto stop cook, the other trying to let him taste it.
