A bit more complex drawing of my beautiful skydog, Idalia who was designed by my friendI slightly changed the design, I hope that's okay ^^
This was sooo fun to draw but it took ages XD I used 49 layers in photoshop.

Yes, I did ^^ It's nothing special really, just some brushes.

By the way, I love your icon :3
I just made regular cell shading but with a soft brush. Then I used a large eraser to soften the edges a bit more. Later I added some highlights on the chest fur, hair and nose with a hard brush in white color and set that layer to soft light. I used 3 layers for shading and 2 or 3(not sure) for highlights.
I might make a shading tutorial if you want. I can do it next time I decide to make a pic like this.
