Hey Guys, LiamFitz34 back once again for another review. Giving Loud House a break this time because I wanna talk about the new Thomas & Friends special. So I've now seen all of S23 and I have to say it was a good season, had a few stinkers but I still liked it. This season there were two different specials, One called "Steam Team to the Rescue" (Which I'll review soon) and the other called "Digs and Discoveries", and that's what I'm going to be looking at today. So what did I think of "Digs and Discoveries"????? It was quite decent.

So this special was split into two parts, each part go on for 22 mins. This was also the 1st special not to take place on Sodor, but it takes place in Italy, and I have to say I really liked the scenery, It was quite beautiful, even if some bits did look like Sodor, but eh that's a nitpick. And this also the first special where we see Thomas in his new redesign, and when these were first shown, I grew to like them, although Percy could be toned down a bit with the rivets, but eh.

This also features the return of Gina the Italian Engine from "The Great Race" and oh my Jeez, She was perfect. Her voice fitted her perfectly, and I was really impressed with the personality, she's Sweet and stylish and THANK GOD we have a character who gets tired of Thomas' Antics, something they couldn't do with Ashima and Nia, However I did chuckle whenever she "huffs and puffs", LOL. Ester was alright, I mean she didn't talk much so I can't give a full opinion on her, but I do think she's a good character, I love how she's portrayed as an Archaeologist, It fits perfectly. Now let's get into my favorite Italian characters, Lorenzo and Beppe, OMG I LOVE THESE TWO SO MUCH!!! When I first about these two, I was kinda worried how they would turn out and BOY I was really surprised and the minute I finished watching this special, they instantly became my favorite Italy characters (Sorry Gina) The story of how they ended up in the mine was quite a story, and they're voices are so Good and I love how they're opera singers, I Can't wait to review "Too Loud Thomas" and "Lorenzo's Solo" really soon and I really hope we get more episodes with these two great characters. Also funny thing they both remind me of Timon and Pumbaa from "The Lion King" LOL.

It was also great to see the Sodor Construction Crew again, I knew they were gonna be in the special, but I didn't expect them to come to Italy (I'll give my thoughts on Brenda when I get to "Out of Site) I also love Alfie's new voice done by Tom Stourton, it fits him a lot better than Nathan Clarke to be honest. As for the overall story, It was quite a tale, when I heard it was written by "Becky Overton" I was worried with how it was gonna turn out, after what happened in S22 with "Apology Impossible", but this special was MUCH better than that crappy episode. I just they wouldn't portray Thomas as some idiot, I hate when they do that.

So overall this special was quite enjoyable, but I loved "Steam Team to the Rescue" a lot better, but I'd say check this out, it's enjoyable.
