Description Somewhat edited the model from the last picture. Added about 50cm to the overall length, brigning it closer to the right size, and tried to make the outriggers more like rockets than submarine engines. Also added detail to the fins to make them look like rudders and a few other general greebles.

Here, then, are a variety of shots showing the 'action features', including the claws, the lighting trough and the equipment pod on the underside. Incidentally, in addition to the laser torch and the rams, there is a drill, but I didn't show that off.

Oh, and in the top corner, you can see the beginnings of Pod 4...

Thunderbirds does not belong to me!

It would have been cool to see that in the "Thunderbirds Are Go" TV series

Now this is what Thunderbird 4 should have looked like in the 2004 film.

The 2004 version looked nothing like the original.

Love the revamp of Thunderbirs 4 it now looks like it can do soooooooo much more than the T-V series did.

Well to be fair they were limited in what they could do, plus we have so much more advancements in deep water diving and exploration.

But still this looks amazing and a far better re-vamp than that god awful live action film.

How do you come up with the layouts?

Or is that secret that you will never tell ;D?

Thanks for the comments! The original TB4 did look limited, didn't it? That said, it did have quite an array of tools hidden behind that spotlight...

I'd agree that we have more advanced deep sea technology to draw on now. I expect if it had been designed today, it would have have many more useful features - rather the approach I took designing this, actually...

As for the design/layout itself...I just start with basic shapes and work up from there, much like any modeller, I guess. I generally have an idea of how I want it to look in mind but the fine detail more or less works itself out as I go. Things all have to fit in, which constrains or dictates where you can go with the design - like the tool pod on this one, there had to be enough room for the pistons to extend beyond the front and retract fully into the body. But yeah, no great secret or skills here, just persistence!

after reading the comment on the previous one about the oil company thng, i had reservations about it. Now i can see it from a few more angles i think its fantastic. The old one was a bit too bulky to be a submarine, but the streamlining of it is excellent. Great work

Yeah, the old design is...sweet but it's not a functional submarine. I'm glad my version looks ok from a fresh angle!

Thanks! I'm not entirely happy with it myself but then, I am a persistant fiddler - nothing's ever finished!
