Description

A Project Educate painting. All mediums contest; Generate your own prompt.

My prompts was...Take something we generally find to be ugly and turn it into something beautiful.

I took two approaches to this piece...I wanted to show weapons of war, becoming a coral reef. Life coming from weapons of death.  Also I took an old piece of rusted metal to paint on. I did have to do some research as to how to best prep the metal and paint on it. Painted with oil paints. I really stepped out of my comfort zone with this project. It was fun to do, I learned a lot working on it. Ahh this is the picture I wanted to up load. Sorry

This is absolutely beautiful and the fact that you painted it on a rusted piece of metal makes it even cooler.

The phrase "I love the colours here" is probably a painful cliche to hear at this point, but I'm a very colours oriented person, so I really do love all the shine here And that manta ray looks absolutely amazing, it's almost real

I love what I assume is the unpainted edge of the metal there at the top? It looks like some kind of frame, or maybe even part of the reef

Thank you for the kind words!

I did leave the edge of the metal unpainted. I really like how that looked.

I am glad the colors worked well.  I am really enjoying the oil paints.
