Description "Can't say I remember seein you around here."

The cream mare perked her ears immediately, turning wary eyes to the approaching horse. Fearful of an attack at first, having grown wise to the human watching her not too far away, she relaxed upon seeing that her visitor was an old friend. She allowed herself a small smile, gradually sinking into the singular soft patch of moss and grass she'd managed to find amidst the unusual weather as of late.

"Saltbush! Or is it 'Saltbrush' today?" She called, "Been an age, hasn't it? You're looking-" She looked the mare up and down, noting a minute change in her body and forced herself not to frown, "Well." If the bristle-maned mare had noticed her friend's look, she hadn't acknowleged it any and promptly flopped down near the cremello with a broad grin.

"I got myself out of a nasty sorts with a pair of stallions, Strata" She laughed. 'Strata' raised her brows, a look of mock disbelief on her face. "Again, Salty? Perish the thought, you must be the most popular mare in the valley to have all of that attention on you." Saltbrush shook herself, now giggling before her friend's words, "Some uppity chestnut and a little silver boy. He can't have been much older than a couple years."

At this, the cremello's smile slightly shifted, "Poor thing to have crossed your path, eh?" Saltbush only laughed louder, oblivious to her friend's shift in demeanor, "His own fault for creepin around in the bushes and playin with ferrets."

"You didn't hurt him, none, did you?"
"Nah." Saltbrush's answer relaxed Strata's face some, "Can't say that that stallion wasn't as kind though." And her face fell again. Saltbrush lowered her nose, one hoof gesturing as she continued her tale. "While they were fightin' — if you could really call it that — I went about my merry way. Shoulda seen the look on that kid's face when that stallion reared at him. Neither of 'em have a clue about where I went"

"You did what?" Strata's voice made Saltbush pause and give her a curious look.

"It's no different than what I normally do. They only have one thing on their mind and I want no part of it. Figured it'd be an easy enough job to sneak off while the big fella was busy with the kid."

The cremello sighed openly, and then managed a faux smile, "Say. Where was that 'kid' you mentioned? Just so I know where to stay away from?"

"Strata, you can't seriously be thinkin' of looking for him. Even as far as 'stallions' go he's smaller than both of us and ain't got the stones to hold his ground nor the brains to run when he has the chance."

"I'm not," A blatant lie, but Saltbush was far worse about noticing those than she was at telling them, "but as round as you're gettin' you may wanna think about doin that yourself"

"Huh?"

Tossing a few CV things out of my sta.sh bc I don't like how empty my page has been this month. Got unexpectedly busy bc of some RL things that hit me out of left field because of COURSE it would when I said I'd have more free time.
Immediately afterwards I got sick again. Because why the hell not
