that is GORGEOUS. did you use a filter?

No filter. The dust in western Colorado was a nice filter.

ahh, lucky you. did you feel gritty in the end?

i'm starting to think i need to buy a filter to bring out (or emphasize) the colors in my sunrises and sunsets. what do you think and what type of filter would that be?

You don't need a filter. Filters were good for film because it was the only way to do white balance adjustments. You really don't need one on a digitial camera.

You can tweak the color of a digital image after if you want. If you can take a pic in raw format, you can do it even more effectively. Raw format is the best if you want to do color tweaks and major editing after the fact. I don't know if your camera takes raw though.

Using your photo editor, play around with the curves adjustment, saturation adjustment along with some color adjustment to vary the intensity.

that's what i thot, but i'm always hearing ppl talk of filters. thanks for clearing the air on that for me.

so taking pics in RAW format are better for tweakin, that's prolly where i go wrong. see on my lil card i can only take 2 pics in RAW format. sad lil xD card. hehe. guess i'll have to buy a new one as soon as i get the chance.

never dared play with the curves adjustment. guess i was always intimidated by it. i'll try it out tho. i've played a little recently with sat, color and intensity. that's how i adjusted the images of my nephews and monsters (in my gallery).

guess i should take a class, eh? thanks SO much for your help, really.
