Oh, I HAVE to tell you why this picture means so much to me!!! Not in a way you would think, okay? There is a book I discovered when I was young...it's entitled "The Distant Summer" and it's about two young men who flew Lancasters and a young girl who fell in love with one of them. It was written by a 16 year old girl, believe it or not, but it's a WONDERFUL book; I believe it's the only one she ever wrote. Anyway, I love this book and the story...but this is the first time that I've actually seen a Lancaster that she describes in her book!!!! It's exactly as I pictured it in my head, based upon planes I've seen here in the U.S. Thank you!!!!

I'm glad you like this picture. I never read that book. But I think it is a good one. in world war II sutch an airplane did crash just behind the house from my grandparents.

It was realy great to see. It was very quiet on the street. the only noise was from a trumpet who was playing "Last Post". And the noise from the the bomber of course.

I love the sound of WWII era bombers. The sound of man made storm.

in WWII there did crash such a bomber into the village where I live. And on 4 may we think about all the people who died into the war. that is the reason why that bomber did fly over the village.
