Big announcement time!
I’ve been MIA for a while now, in part because of an internship I was doing at the indie game studio Wispfire, but also because of a comic I was asked to do for Mindshakes, a new visual journalism platform by Mediahuis Nederland (NRC).
I had no previous experience with comics OR journalism, but felt extremely honored by the assignment, in which I was given carte blanche to tell a story about a topic I felt passionate about. So for the past 3,5 months, with the help of a few fantastic friends, I’ve been plunging myself into a crash course visual storytelling: from (non-academic!) writing and narrative design, to scenario, paneling, style consistency, typography, as well as just the massive challenge of planning and executing something this big. Now, with the finish line finally in sight, I wanted to make a first announcement about it and share this sneak peek of the cover.
The comic is about online privacy and why it matters, which, in a time of increasing connectivity and dependence on the internet, I feel is a topic too important not to be discussed, pondered over, and discussed again.
It will come out very soon at Mindshakes and I’ll be posting any updates here. The comic will be in Dutch but after a month or so I’ll translate and release an English version.
Please look forward to it!
15-12 Update: it's out now in Dutch and you can read it over at www.mindshakes.com/ctrl/. I'll make a separate upload for when the English version comes out (as I think followers on here are mostly English-speaking).
