Description All stuff I did in the very first Wheatley's test chamber, because I thought that was the one where you get the achievement "You made your point".

Also, thanks again, for proof-reading my stuff.

I listened to that commentary after drawing this.

I didn't manage to get them to stay on the race-course, though. They had the tendency to wander off.

Awwh, I love that little row of cubes. Chell seems very inventive to rally them all into a little race.

Actually after I drew this I listened to the developer commentary, and they said they designed them so the players could do things like making them race.

Without a track or corridor of somekind it's a bit difficult, though, since they tend to wander off.

I made a pyramid of them. I don't think I managed to stack more than three on top of one another.

I like how Wheatley forgets that he and chell had emptied the neurotoxin gas (both in-game and in the comic)

Lieju In reply to RandomMan12 [2011-06-21 06:14:16 +0000 UTC]

He did manage to fix it, though, since he uses it in the final battle.

So he did something right, I guess?

RandomMan12 In reply to Lieju [2011-06-21 12:01:37 +0000 UTC]

You sure? I don't think he was able to fix anything, I'm just skeptical at the neurotoxin

Lieju In reply to RandomMan12 [2011-06-29 17:02:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, where did the neurotoxin in the final battle come from then?

And he did manage to manufacture the bombs, even if he didn't design them or the shields himself, it was something GLaDOS didn't have on her disposal.

Well, it ended up being a bad decision in the end, because he almost killed Chell who was his only test subject and trying to stop him from blowing the lab up.

That's much more creative than my Wheatley test 1 fooling about I just zotted all the hermit cubes in the emancipation grill except the one I needed to get out ^^'

Hm, is it possible to destroy all Frankenturrets in that room?
You can solve the test by stepping on the button yourself, but you'd need something to keep it down when you get out.

Whispatchet In reply to Lieju [2011-06-21 06:37:14 +0000 UTC]

I dunno... It's certainly doable to zot them all, but getting out after is the trick. Hmmmm....

Lieju In reply to Whispatchet [2011-06-21 07:26:11 +0000 UTC]

They must have thought of that, and it probably spawns new ones...

I'll need to try that.

Whispatchet In reply to Lieju [2011-06-22 04:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Lol if it doesn't spit out new ones, the only way to get out would be the bottomless pit, I think

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lieju In reply to Whispatchet [2011-06-26 16:52:34 +0000 UTC]

I checked, and you can't get to the forcefield that destroys them unless you leave one on the button.

It's possible for them to commit suicide by jumping on the field that is on the door where you come from, but it would take ages to just stand there and wish all of them kill themselves before going to the room. If it's even possible.

A part of my mind broke with the FrankenTurret racing, it's soo cute! and the asking for love they were begging for hugs all through the game

Lieju In reply to SpontaneousFork [2011-06-20 18:20:15 +0000 UTC]

I want one as a pet, much safer than a turret. Even a defective one.

And more interesting than a cube, I already have several pet rocks.
(In tarantula hobby, certain species, most notably Grammostola and Brachypelma sp are called "pet rocks", because of how much they move.)

SpontaneousFork In reply to Lieju [2011-06-20 18:33:30 +0000 UTC]

They would make amazing pets. Very Defective's are likely to explode but they can talk back a bit.

More loving than cubes.
Oh, Very athletic then?

Lieju In reply to SpontaneousFork [2011-06-20 18:38:18 +0000 UTC]

There are also the category of "pet holes". In other words, they dig a hole and you'll never see them again.

Companion Cube would make for an interesting pet, sure...

SpontaneousFork In reply to Lieju [2011-06-20 19:09:13 +0000 UTC]

they'd have to come out of their holes sometime XD

That's where the Companion turret would step in. Although I'd never fully got the emotional-bonding over the cube really.

"they'd have to come out of their holes sometime XD"
You'd be surprised. I have had tarantulas fast for a year...
And in any case, those ones that dig deep holes tend to only come out at night.
Which is why most people who keep tarantulas have so many of them; they don't take up much space, and usually at least one is doing something.

"Although I'd never fully got the emotional-bonding over the cube really."
Well, I understand that would happen if you were isolated for a long time. Since you are Chell in Portal, it's kinda your own feelings you project into her, so whether she did bond with the cube depends on your view.

SpontaneousFork In reply to Lieju [2011-06-20 20:48:36 +0000 UTC]

Never thought of insects/arachnids to be the most active of pets to keep.
But I'd rather stick to mammals can't stand the bigger spiders, tiny ones im okay around though.

True, as a player we wouldn't have experienced the same condition, either way we still burn the innocent cubes.

Lieju In reply to SpontaneousFork [2011-06-20 20:57:01 +0000 UTC]

"Never thought of insects/arachnids to be the most active of pets to keep."
It depends on the insect. And even with spiders you have ones that will always build new stuff with webbing and plants and moss and stuff.
Once one of my tarantulas carried all the stuff she had in her terrarium (The plastic plants, water cup, hiding place) in one corner, webbed all over it, and then hung moss all over it to make a tent-like structure.

But they aren't really as active as something like roaches (I keep a colony to feed for my other pets) that are constantly moving. Spiders tend to rather wait for their prey.

Of course, adult males trying to find a mate are different, and usually restless (especially if they can smell a female nearby).

"True, as a player we wouldn't have experienced the same condition, either way we still burn the innocent cubes."

Yeah, I never thought Chell cared much for the cube. It could have been fun if the game screw with your mind (like Eternal darkness) to make you uncertain whether the cube was sentient or not.

SpontaneousFork In reply to Lieju [2011-06-21 14:26:02 +0000 UTC]

From what I've seen on various documentaries the range of things spiders can do with their webbing is fantastic, a lot of people wouldn't think it went beyond a web.
I'd fancied owning a tarantula at one point but, I can't stand them when they're actually there, I don't mind pictures and video's but something about it actually being there. But they're fascinating creatures still, just have the generic dislike of them.

That's fairly standard with a lot of animals, the rats are the same a female just has to be in the room and they'd be up against the side of the cage trying to see whats going on.

Well if GLaDOS was telling the truth (ha ha) They might be, but even having a possible recording of "I love You" which played just before it burned would've been fairly amusing. Although if it was sentient It's be funny to see it portrayed as it is in "A day in the life of a Turret".
