One thing that strikes me hard while watching / reading OnePiece is the fact that these two are supposed to be nineteen-year-old boys. I understand that OP is shounen manga, so the ideal age for characters is rather young. Maybe Zoro started drinking when he turned 19. Maybe Sanji started smoking when he turned 19. Who knows. But the problem is, as the title suggests, that they seem too casual in doing so : DWell, personally I don't promote teenage drinking / smoking, hence empty beer mug and unlit cigarette ; ) I've had my fun with those, and I am too old for anything hardcore.
A comment on the quality of piece -- I tried to color this piece in similar fashion as Oda Eiichiro, and I think I did an okay job at picking out the color scheme. What are your opinions?

My next submission should be a painting of Vergil from DMC3. I always have a tendency of spending tremendous amount of time on acrylic paintings for some odd reasons. I'll definitely finish it up by the end of the week.

The way I justify it is that these guys are pirates. They did things differently back in the days of pirates, so it probably wouldn't have been too far out of the ordinary to see teenagers drinking and smoking.
Anyways, this is a fantastic piece! I love how free-flowing all of the coloring looks, while the line-art still keeps the hard edges. The print will be a great addition to my wall.

I do agree with the pirates being rather carefree about the stuff we find outrageous when measured to our own standards.
Thank you for purchasing this print! Inking was done with diluted drawing ink, and watercoloring was completed with intended haste to keep the piece "moving". I hope you enjoy this piece on your wall as much as I enjoyed working on it.

No problem! When you're walking through an artist's alley, certain pieces just seem to call out to you and this one definitely did it for me.
I've never been good with watercolor (too easy to mess up!) so it's cool to find an artist who can pull it off. Would you consider watercolor and ink to be your usual style, or was this something different?

Watercolor / ink combo is something I pick up when I want to let loose and see something random every now and then. However I end up using them like acrylic, so no washes and randomness come out of it... which is very disappointing : /

Sanji started smoking when he was like 8, it was shown in the manga, he started to look older! xD

Sanji started smoking when he was very young, in order to impress Zeff, after they came back from that piece of earth where they were stuck in. He thought it was 'mature' to smoke, so that's why he started.
I dunno about Zoro, but he sure is a very nice drinker. xD
I like the art. Zoro looks like he's kinda drunk I guess hahaha, and Sanji looks very sexy. xD

And yet I'm still pissed that Sanji was given a lollypop in 4Kids version...x'D I know we shouldn't be teaching children to smoke and all that jazz...But Sanji is so cool! (I've sat here for like five minutes, trying to think of something to say that didn't make it sound like I think smoking and drinking is cool and I still failed...OTL ) Yeah...I got nothing. The color looks great imo. This probably wasn't your intent, but the abstract background makes me think the boys are wasted/high and can't see clearly.

I sometimes realize that OP is not entirely meant for children -- there are some sexual contents here and there, not to mention the loads of violence! (palmface) I just love the fact no one ever dies in the series
