I completely agree with you. It's often a lot more feeling around a stage-setting than in, say, a photo shoot. ^^

Also much more interesting lighting and shadows, smoke etc. Posed photo shoots just don't capture the natural elements where as a live performer is so lost in the show that they're not focused on posing.
