(m/n) sat up in his bed. Rubbing his eyes. His eyes lay on the wheelchair next to his bed and he let out a loud sigh. Part of that dream had been true. He has adopted a child, he had gotten a new house, and unfortunately, that giant unicorn was no dream.

He tried to recall some other parts of his dream when he remembered the beginning. His blood ran cold as he started to wonder if both he and Shanks had truly separated, and his memory was just in his favour. He grabbed for his wheelchair, falling out of the bed in the process, making a huge bang.

He heard shouting from downstairs and footsteps running up and into his room. He felt relief as Shanks came into the room and laughed at (m/n)’s pouting on the ground.

“How did you manage that?” He asked him. (m/n) didn’t really know himself. His legs were on the chair and his shoulders were on the ground, making him quite uncomfortable. “Never mind, never mind. Are you alright?” He asked as he picked up the writer and placed him on the wheelchair. (m/n) huffed before he started wheeling himself out of the room.

“I’m fine, I just don’t appreciate you laughing at my disabled problems.” He muttered as he the button for the elevator. “Considering the fact that my injury was caused because I was protecting you, I thought that you would’ve been a tad bit more polite and grateful.” Shanks chuckled and nodded his head silently, grabbing the bars and wheeling his lover into the elevator.

It was true that (m/n) had saved his life. Shanks had arrived late to the party, since he had been hunting Doflamingo. The only problem is that he reacted to slowly to the Unicorn, and he had almost been crushed by it. (m/n) had flung himself at the red-haired man, throwing him backwards.

However, (m/n)’s back and legs weren’t so lucky. They got crushed, and he had fainted from the shock before anything else could have happened. According to Shanks, the Unicorn was guarding the weapon, which was a sword. Before anyone could grab the sword, Aoki had been crushed by the unicorn as well, but his head wasn’t as lucky as (m/n)’s was. But the sight of blood made the Unicorn go on a rampage. Unfortunately, to defeat the unicorn, they had to chop off it’s horn. They were only able to chop half of it off, but when that was done, the now Demicorn shrunk to the size of a normal horse and became docile.

Although (m/n) wasn’t keen with the idea, Haruto had begged for him to keep the horse, and after around three hours of constant pestering, he finally gave in. But if the horse came anywhere close to him, he would glare at it and growl, keeping it far enough away.

“Shanks… I’m sorry.” He said in the silence of the ride down. Shanks glanced at him with a questioning look and he sighed. “It’s just, I shouldn’t blame you. It was my choice to get my legs crushed, so don’t blame yourself.” The red haired man had no reply prepared. He thought he kept his self-blame and regrets perfectly hidden. But he should have known, that (m/n) would be able to read him like a book. After all… he smiled at the ring on his finger, a matching one on (m/n)’s finger.

“I won’t.” Shanks smiled at his husband. He had no reason to feel down. He had proposed to (m/n) after the accident. It was the first time he had seen (m/n) cry tears of joy, the only times he had seen (m/n) cry being when he had panic attacks. They got then married two months later, next to a beach. They were now a family, in addition to Haruto, who even though they found out was trained to be an assassin, they decided was trustworthy enough.

The elevator finally arrived. And the doors opened to reveal the living room, clad in decorations. It was Haruto’s birthday anyways. Trafalgar was in the corner of the room, conversing with Nami. Whitebeard and Zoro were having a drinking competition, in addition to Luffy who was stuffing his face. Sanji has also offered to cook and prepare the cake, which (m/n) graciously accepted, not being much of a baker. Robin was reading a book at the side. And in the centre of the room, laughing with Ace.

Haruto was the first to notice them. “(m/n)!!! You’re up! We were worried that you had fallen out of your wheelchair!” He called over to them. (m/n) grumbled something about how the chairs mechanics were stupid before smiling and rolling over to Haruto to pat his head.

“Alright people!!!” Sanji’s voice brought everyone’s attention to a cart with a giant cake on top of it. “Time for cake!!” Everyone cheered, including Whitebeard and Trafalgar, which was a rare occasion. As everyone gathered around the cake to sing happy birthday, Shanks and (m/n) stayed back a bit, laughing at everyone’s eagerness.

“We did good, didn’t we?” (m/n) asked, and Shanks nodded in reply as a grin crossed his face.
“We did.” And he leaned down to capture his husbands lips in a sweet kiss.

Yes, everything was perfect.
