Description
Ok continuing the great update! Here we've got an updated look at my Sauroid species.
Talyn walked down the halls of the ship eyes sharp ahead of himself. His mind racing. Since he'd come to Earth with his mate and younger brother live had been relatively peaceful. The times he'd had to invoke his Shadow Claw status were few and the danger to himself minimal as far as he was concerned. He'd been somewhat mistrustful of the humans. They were quite different. Their civilization younger and un-unified. They were violent. But Talyn had spent time on Earth now. He and his family now had friends here. Human ones. Talyn had realized that these people were not so dissimilar from his own. The majority were good and he'd been letting bad apples sour him to the lot. His job had become easier. Acting as the discrete claws of the council and voice of peace. In two years he'd seen humanity's technological level rise. With their help multiple human stations had been built around Earth and their first FTL ships were under construction. Soon they'd be properly space fairing and the children of Earth would travel the stars together. Peace stretched out before them. But the universe is rarely so kind.
Talyn had been on Roosevelt Station, Built by the US in conjunction with Sauroid aid, when he'd received and emergency comm requesting him to report to Distant Light's bridge with all haste even as the flagship of the local fleet docked with the station. Talyn excused himself from the delegation and marched to the dock with speed. The Comm had come on a priority 1 encrypted channel. For emergency use only. He was now speeding down the halls of the Distant Light past other Sauroid officers. Normally it was only Talyn who wore the base layer of enviro-armor as his uniform. So far he'd seen five others in it in less than a minute. He'd seen security in full armor. Talyn felt his stomach churn as he passed one of the virtual windows. Sauroid ships didn't have real windows. Structural weak points. Too easy for a hull breach there. He momentarily thought on the image of the moon. The same moon that lit the night for both primitive Sauroids and humans. That thought was quickly pushed aside as he entered the bridge.
"Captain Telai. Talk to me. What's going on." Talyn asked the tall female Sauroid sitting in the center of the bridge.
"Shadow Claw Talyn. Approximately 15 minutes ago long range sensor buoys detected a massive subspace disruption indicative of vessels dropping out of FTL flight at the edge of our sense horizon out past the Kiper belt. Judging by the readings this is an enormous fleet of vessels." Captain Telai said speaking with a grim tone coloring her usually calm voice. Her face as hard as steel now.
"Who is it? Have we got any details yet?" Talyn asked walking over and brought the sensor data up.
"We've managed get scans of their hull configuration. It matches nothing in our files. We've also checked energy signatures and again nothing matching anything on record. Their still too far distant for life sign readings."Telai explained watching Talyn scroll through the information. "In accordance Protocols regarding invasions of a Council Allied system the highest ranking Shadow Claw becomes the commanding officer of the local fleet Presence. That's you sir."
"I want the fleet to marshal and take up defensive positions around Earth. Recall any research teams that can be recalled and tell the rest to bunker down. Contact the Council and inform them of the situation." Talyn told her as he crossed his arms staring a the holodisplay before him. The fate of the Fleet rested on his shoulders. More than that perhaps the fate of a planet. "And dispatch three stealth Scout Ships to intercept this invading fleet. We need more details."
"Aye sir. We've already sent a dispatch to the Council. So far no word back." The Captain told him as she relayed the orders to the fleet.
"Good." Talyn nodded to her. He clenched his fist and ran a hand over his side arm as worry set in. Worry for his family. The two Sauroids he cared about above all others. Talyn thought for a moment. Was it fair what he was about to do? Fair that he had a luxury that others didn't? Did he really care if it was fair? No. He turned his back and walked off a few steps tapping his holo tool on. A few taps of the tool's display brought his personal ship online. It was a Shadow's Claw's ship. Well armed, armored, fast, and equipped with the best stealth system available. A few more taps brought the face of a more muscular Sauroid with raven black feathers to the tool's screen. "Resh. Something big is going down right now. I can't say what right now. But we're talking a possible cataclysm. I'm sending the Lance. I want you and Kal on board that ship now. Activate the stealth systems and get the hell out of here."
"What about you?" Resh responded with worry. Long years of training told Resh that, that was the only important question to ask right now.
"I'm already aboard the Distant Light. I'll be fine." Talyn told him with conviction. He knew it was the truth. If this went as far south as he thought it might then he had no intention of uselessly sacrificing what would remain of the fleet pointlessly.
"Alright then. I'll grab Kal immediately. Stay safe. I love you." Resh said and brought his snout close to the screen.
"I love you too Resh. You and Kal both." Talyn said and did the same and gave a smile before ending the transmission. He lowered his arm and turned back to the forward Holo-Screen. The Captain eyed him a bit but said nothing. Instead she continued to rally her crew and wait for further orders from the Shadow on Deck.
Well I hope you guys liked the pic and the lil story. ^^
