Hey All,Gah, so busy this past week! So, instead of wonderful art, you guys get to see one of my other hobbies, zombie make up! This is my brother and I at Seattle's very own, Red, White, and Dead parade, back on the second. I build my own prosethics from scratch, and then use make up and blood to bring my zombie horrors "to life". With this makeup, I literally couldn't see more than three feet, and I couldn't see out of my left eye at all, so my brother (the guy behind me there) had me on a leash so he could help direct me through the crowds and during the parade. Isn't he a sweety?

so what do you use to make your prosthetics?

I use a couple things, spirit gum (to attach it to my face), scar/nose wax (used to sculpt the wound/etc), liquid latex, toilet paper/tissue paper on occasion, fake blood, and oil based make ups.
I might be making a video tutorial some time if you have any particular wounds you'd like to see made.

thats pretty awesome. I had this visual effects class once and we would make props and shit like that all the time. only ours were more permenant. we would make plaster molds of our face. sculpt something wicked on make a mold and make like a latex mask out of it. shit was pretty cool. i was never any good at it but it was a lot of fun

Oh man, that sounds kick ass! I haven't dabbled with masks at all yet, but eventually I do want to get into actual molded pieces, like special effects ears or what not. I'm also in the process of teaching myself a technique to make horns with bondo and frames, so we'll see how that goes.
Ok, I'll probably post a journal about it when I get the time to make the video.

Yeah, wound making is a hobby of mine, so I love events like this where I can just go all out and make something really over the top.
