Sadly, both games in the series received mixed reviews...which is a shame, because while both did have flaws, they were still both decent games for the gamecube.
Lost Kingdoms and Baten Kaitos are just sort of underrated as games go...

I would say so. Katia's offensive attacks for anything are dependent on cards, while Arnice can use actual weapons for attacks and her transformations have fewer limits then Katia's.

Katia does have up to 40 cards with her and has some pretty broken cards though...
Her Doppelganger card, for example, is a OHKO if anyone touches it.
But sadly, Katia relies on weapon cards for physical attacks-a weakness Arnice doesn't have. Though...Katia can use some pretty strong weapon cards like Sphinx and Demon Lord.

Quite so. Arnice doesn't have a low level cap, isn't dependent of cards for weapons, and her allies, while limited to 4 unlike Katia, all have their own levels rather then just one flat stat of attack and can regen in a about a few minutes-a thing made easier with special equipment while Katia has to rely on other cards to re-stock her own cards. Not to mention Katia is dependent on collecting special gems dropped by her opponents to keep her MP up or her own moves will damage her once she runs out. Not to mention Arnice's transformations are more specialized for fighting rather then destroying obstacles.
