My contest entry for 's Guardian contest. Basically, you had to draw your idea of a guardian, so i drew a dragon XD
My sister ~AnimeOtaku1998 decided her name :L I suck at naming things >.> But i might actually make her an OC. I don't have enough female ones D:

Name: Ryelle
Age: 342 when she died and was reincarnated as a spirit
Gender: Female

Even though in this picture Ryelle looks quite 'solid' she is actually a dragon spirit and is seen as one that will protect other dragons (especially younger dragons) from harm. Throughout the realm she is known as the 'mother' because of her determination to defend her children. Dragons summon her for protection against other creatures that mean to kill them. However, if two dragons mean to fight each other, she can not be summoned as Ryelle refuses to show favouritism between her children. Ryelle is about 16 metres if fully stretched out with a wing span of 20 metres.

She can be summoned by offering a dragons blood into a fire. When the blood disappears in the fire she appears and helps them confront the summoner's enemy. She has a strong sense of morals so is able to tell right from wrong. If the summoner commands her to attack someone she deems to be innocent instead she will disperse and change back to fire. Ryelle is sworn to only protect dragons so if any other creature was to try and summon her, she would pull them back into the fire with her because she'll know that one of her dragons have been harmed.
As her element is fire she draws her power from the fire of the surroundings life force. Which gives her an advantage over her opponents as they grow weaker while she becomes stronger. When she does this, she also has the ability to take on her summoner's appearance yet remains the same size as she is. This is to represent the spirit of the dragon.

I based the description and the general idea of the 'Song of ice and fire' series by George R.R. Martin. More specifically by Daenerys, the Dragon Princess. She has 3 dragons that protect her as she was the one to give them life and through out Westeros, she is seen as the mother because she tries to protect them through out the novel.
I was inspired to draw this after a dragon statue I bought after climbing Mt Vesuvius in Italy. The statue shows a dragon defending it's young who is perched on her leg. The colours are similar to it as well but there isn't as much red. What I love most about Ryelle is the way that the red colour is graduated on her horns and her wings :3
