This is why I love this independent animationΒ www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc_Ikxβ¦Β Guys and girls suffer crotch shots to a pretty equal degree. It's cathartic to see genuine equality at work.

right, there this agenda in the media to portrait men as dumb and unable to get things done until the female character comes and saves the day. He also is the funny character who gets hit and ridiculed..Β

But the same could be said for female characters who are degraded by male characters by sexually objectifying them.

I agree; negative depiction of men and violence against men are the most disgusting forms of sexism I've ever known (well, in my opinion).

Sorry for my late reply. yes, it is. It can distort the roles of the family and little boys' self image. It's very destructive. Most people say women deserve respect (and they do) well, guess what? Men deserve respect too.
God bless you

Thanks, my dear gentleman. By the way, I was a Christian at some point, but I do believe in a higher power (some people might have seen an afterlife during a coma, and were "revived" to tell the truth about their religion).

I got extremely ill and diagnosed with Crohn's disease 2 years ago. I have medication to help reduce the effects of the disease, and I also got extremely ill whenever I went to church (as if Satan cursed me). The "curse" made me decide to stop going to church, due to the pain that lowered my self-esteem for several months. I even became semi-atheist, but then as I got better, I returned to Christianity w/o going to church. I rarely go to church, but I believe that atheism is overrated. I don't always feel like sending a PM...

I see, I'm sorry to hear about your illness. How do you understand Christianity? How would you define it?

I've noticed this a lot. It's okay for men to be used in commercials as the idiots while the women are the geniuses. It absolutely annoyed me. My dad even said that if women were portrayed as the idiots, they'd be calling in and complaining. He said that "men don't care enough about it."
Hm... I wonder why?

Exactly! I've notice that even in cartoons for little children, there is the smart, fearless girl with her useless, dumb, and cowardly brother. That is so annoying. I'm not saying that women can't be smart, but men aren't stupid nor useless. Most men are not doing anything against it because it is politically incorrect. Psychologists, the government, media and many religious groups are against men.

"religious groups are against men."
...you serious? I've only ever heard of religious groups who are against women. This is new information to me. ;-;

yes, not in an explicit way, but it does happend. For example very often when you hear preachings about inmorality or infidelity, the default position is: The man was unfaithful, the man was immoral. Preachers are very bold when rebuking men for their sinful behavior, but fail to rebuke women for theirs. They compromise in order to avoid being labeled as sexist.

Ooohhhh... that makes sense. I've seen that. I suppose I failed to realize the double-standard. In this one church I went to, it seemed like some of the women sinned WAY more than the men. Usually in the ways of slanderous gossip, etc.

Yes, I've seen that also... both men and women should be taught the fear of God.

This is one of the reasons why I do not like Peanuts. Sorry, people, but Mr. Schulz and his associates were wrong. It's not funny, and it never will be.

Lightmare7 In reply to Tigerwolf1986 [2011-11-09 19:28:16 +0000 UTC]
Exactly, it's setting a very bad example. Haven't you noticed that more and more often the male characters in animations and tv shows for children, are kind of unintelligent, without any clue on how to solve the problem at hand, clumsy... and the female character is the one who saves the day. I'm not saying that this cannot happend sometimes, but I see an agenda of portraying masculinity as something flawed. The most alarming thing is that this is what kids are learning...

My sympathies to that poor 5th-grader and Dave and Richie Pelzer. Mr. Schulz and company, the sanity of the world's males are on YOUR shoulders. Sorry ta sound like a broken record, but:
What they say: You can't hit a girl.
What they mean: Females are pitiful weaklings.
Self-defense =/= abuse
