Description     Mardell isn't exactly known for its elegance when it comes to its craftwork, but there is an undeniable beauty either way, I'm sure.

For the Dwarves of Mardell, especially in the mining regions of the Desolate Peaks, magical gems, crystals, and minerals are in no short supply, which has led to several... innovations... in weaponry and warfare that I would not have ever thought of. One of these weapons, they had gifted to me in exchange for a hefty stock of medicines and spices that I had brought north from the Panalog islands during my travels of the globe of Ashtar. It appears to be a rock, with growths of dazzling purple crystals on one side, and a singular spike of the same crystal on the other end. As a handle, steel gilded with gold and silver had been intertwined like vines, or the veins of a human arm. As they had told me, the crystals were made of Poisonglass.

Poisonglass does not produce venom as snakes, spiders, or scorpions do, but contain flakes of a mineral that, when it contacts the bloodstream and is brought to the brain, begins to blacken and stop parts of it, reducing a man to a bumbling, blithering, infantile state, until they eventually forget to breathe and die of suffocation. Apparently, it kills Dwarves faster than it does humans, and I have yet to hear of, or personally test its effects on Elves, Skinshifters, or Dragons. I sincerely hope I will never have the displeasure of finding out.

The weapon understandably is fragile, and one may find themselves with no crystals left to bash or stab with, but the smiths of Mardell make a habit of casting durability charms on their weapons. The crystals are very sharp, and I have had to wrap the thing in thick cloth before packing it away, to ensure that non of my party, would poke their fingers on it by accident.

(Note to self- burn the cloth to avoid washing my face in Poisonglass flakes.)

-Journal of Minerva Mendelez

I drew this in like an hour and a half when I woke up. I haven't even had breakfast yet as of now.

nice, i like the design
"when it contacts the bloodstream and is brought to the brain, begins to blacken and stop parts of it"
wouldn't a cutting weapon work better for an effect like that?

i can imagine that big spike at the back can work like that, but i feel like if you use THAT you basically leave a gaping hole in the thing your swinging with
"The weapon understandably is fragile, and one may find themselves with no crystals left to bash or stab with, but the smiths of Mardell make a habit of casting durability charms on their weapons"
i can see how that would work, i thought it would be something like the crystals reform at an extremely fast rate, so instead of taking millennia to form like normal crystals, it would be maybe a few minutes, that way it adds to the use of crystals and could look really cool if ever animated

still looks great though
