I guess this is the time where I should explain about how I've chosen to portray Katniss.
I do realize I look nothing like Jennifer Lawrence. This is a given. I have chosen to portray Katniss very much based on what Suzanne Collins had described in her novel and not what is portrayed in the film. As much as I support the film as an /adaptation/ of the novel, there were many details I feel were not upheld in the transfer from book to screen. This being said, I realize I have have taken a risk to portray Katniss in this fashion, given my skin tone is darker than what Jennifer Lawrenceβs portrayal has no doubt influenced many on how Ms. Everdeen looks. However, this is how I feel I can best portray her given the details in the novel, and each to their own favoured depiction I guess.
But that does not mean I disagree with the casting of Ms. Lawrence in the role of Katniss Everdeen. I commend her on giving a remarkable performance and do believe she is one of the best people who could pull off a role of this magnitude.

I adored Jennifer as Katniss, so I didn't mind that she didn't match the original description. But it's very cool to see a book-centric cosplay

I too didn't mind Jen as Katniss and I do feel she was the only one who could pull of this roll with her serious acting chops 
It's more my attention to detail that comes with my OCD that no doubt placed me on the fence for the longest time. I now see the book and movie as two sides of the same coin and that's perfectly alright with me ~

Katniss is a book character, the way you imagine her or portray her is what matters. After all, Jennifer Lawrence is one choice, doesn't mean it's THE choice.
To me, with cosplaying a book character, the more important thing is to look like the character of the book as you want it. The movie can be an inflluence, but that's not the rule. As long as you precise "Katniss, from the books", no one has something to say about not looking like Jennifer Lawrence. Personally, I think you you look super great and even looking at the thumbnail, we can recognize it's her
good job !

It's very true -- I've gotten some comments saying other wise and while I didn't want to buy into what they were saying, I felt the need to state my case and as DA is very much a form of therapy for me I just decided to write down how I was feeling in the description of this photo...
I fully respect both move and book versions as legitimate versions of the one Katniss Everdeen ~
Again very true -- I found I had a lot more fun using my imagination constructing this cosplay as I got to use my imagination instead of basing what I was constructing off of photos and screenshots ~

I think the bow is a bit too small, but hey you take what you can get so I won't be an ass about that XD
The orange backpack you chose is MUCH better than the one in the movie I really love it!
Overall I think you did an awesome job! (And I am one of those naggy people that is hardly ever satisfied with any Book Cosplay XD Much less my own)

Yeah this ones a bit on the small side, though finding one the correct size for me has been a struggle as I'm barely 5'2 when wearing shoes and due to stunted growth my arms remained at the size I was when I was 4'11 -- a full size bow is just too big for me...
I'm currently searching for new one and building my quiver for when I premier this baby at my next con ~

And yeah, if the bow is anything to go by, I really wont be satisfied with mine until I feel I've done the best I can do with what is available to me -- which knowing me will probably be never

oh with that I might be able to help. Childrens bows are smaller not too small to be visibly small but small enough for short people to handle. I am roughly around 5'3 to 5'4 (not sure as we do that in centimeter XD)
I had luck with mine XD A friend had an old one (a legitimate bow for children)
XD ahahahahaha god I can definetely feel you there! I am never satisfied with my costumes
