packstrap [2010-09-22 10:12:27 +0000 UTC]

This is a very helpful, straightforward explanation, but your color choices are not the best. By using only the local color's tone (how much black or white there is) to shade, you make the picture look very dull and dead. That isn't really a problem with this subject (the Corpse Bride is dead, after all), but this problem is apparent in the rest of your gallery as well. Don't be afraid to use other hues.

thank you, i like the colors i use.

randomcuteness [2010-07-14 05:20:52 +0000 UTC]

So you just sketched this and colored it on the pc? But u used a tablet right? And u use the pen like a pencil? Am i correct? So how do u outline it? U just used the pen freestyle? So tht means u have to be super precise?? Also, did u do the same for the bg? If so was it on the finished layer of the work and then u just repeated all the steps? Btw when i get a tablet i KNOW tht this will help me a lot when i get the hang of things!! Thanks for the linky!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lightskin In reply to randomcuteness [2010-07-14 05:32:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes, every step I do, it's all on the computer using a tablet. The pen tablet is used like you would use a normal pen or pencil. I outline by just being precise. And yeah, for the background I do the same but below every layer. (all the character's layers).
no problem at all. Good luck on getting one!

solutionsby In reply to lightskin [2009-09-03 23:22:49 +0000 UTC]

oh, what I meant was, how you do your lineart, open a new layer and carefully trace around the rough sketch?????????

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lightskin In reply to solutionsby [2009-09-04 00:56:54 +0000 UTC]

oh, yesh. well, I make the opacitiy of sketch layer and then I start with the lineart. It can be a quick lineat, but sometimes I take my time to make it looks good.
