(Not made with real chocolate, so very much NOT edible, just FYI.)

Inspired by some chocolate tours I’ve been on, during which my friends and I tasted some very gourmet, handmade, artisan truffles and the like, I thought to make a themed series of dragon hatchlings. My friend (“M”) had gifted me a set of earth-toned Sculpey polymer clays, and my favourite colour was the one that looked just like a rich dark chocolate. So, I set to work, giving each dragon its flavour-based colour scheme and its own unique markings. And it came to me to make 7 dragons in my series simply because of the number seven’s frequent Biblical significance, so why not? My estimate is that they’re each only about 3 inches long and they each probably weigh less than an ounce, though I haven’t actually weighed or measured them, so I could be slightly off. Suffice it to say, they fit in the palm of an adult’s hand.

This one is called "Strawberry Spikes"... inspired by, I suppose, chocolate-dipped strawberries? Although I typically consider the addition of fruit to any dessert to be anathema, I do enjoy an occasional chocolate-dipped strawberry. However, bear in mind that such delights count as a salad, NOT as dessert. For it to qualify as dessert, it must (a) contain chocolate, and (b) be 100% free from any fruit! ... Which actually makes my little dragon series here rather ironic...

I entered every dragon in this series into a juried art show at the ASiF gallery (along with 3 of my other sculptures) and all 10 entries made it into the show! I invite you to come back soon as I intend to upload the rest of the dragons in this series very shortly, two of which I've already uploaded:

Chocolate Dragon Sculpture - Vanilla Dots
Chocolate Dragon Sculpture - Orange Belly
