Nevah Evah mess with the dark elves. ]:The armor design is heavily inspired by a texture mod I did together with =OchreJelly for Lineage 2, called the dark knight armors. So the image is going to be used as part of a site design for L2 Vendetta , even though everything other than the armor itself and the race bears pretty much no relation to the game.
Corel Painter 9, Wacom Intuos 3, 30-ish hours. It was fun to do something in a landscape format for a change. Now, back to the bajillion projects on my to-do list. /o/
May be reposted for as long as my full name and preferably a link back to my gallery are provided in a clear manner along with the image. No modifications.

That armor is beautiful! I love the textures and the way the metals shine! The sky, being overcome by dark clouds looks like an omen. The character and landscape match each other in fury and anger, and darkness. The colors coincide so well it appears as though everything was preordained! One problem I see though, I was a bit confused of the hand casting the spell, and it's 3 dimensional-ness. I am not saying it's a flaw, or that it's bad! I just think if it were a bit bigger then it appears, it would look excellent. I just hope that helps, even though you hardly need my criticism!

Thanks for the elaborate comment and crit! That foreshortening glitch has been pointed out before, and taken into consideration. I'll probably leave it as it is though, 'cause I kinda flattened layers before some final tweaks so I'd have to repaint a fairly large area to get the hand fixed. Living and learning I guess.

Secret? I don't know, I just work on a picture until it feels finished. Sometimes it takes a bit longer, sometimes not so long. Of course, taking breaks helps, 30 hours in one sitting would be crazy.

Ho ho! The dark elves just got cooler! Man! Why are the dangerous looking ones always the most appealing? (I'm going to die young, I just know it!!!) I really like the way you depicted the dragons. You can almost see the motion. ^__^
