I was thinking more along "New Yorker" lines, but it would look awesome animated.
Horses are bitch enough to animate as it is... even if I'm doing a stylized horse like this, I'd want it to gallop with realistic timing and motion... and horses have such stiff, teeny spines (s'why we ride them and not panthers) that it's hard to make the fold/unfold look convincing. Even if I copied "Animator's Survival Kit" verbatim...
Damn! You've driven me to want to draw it.
I'll embarrass myself, but I'll do it.

*thrusts out chin to ridiculous length and puts legs into matador splints*
(Austin Powers voice) Do I make you horny, baby? Do I make you horny? (Begins cockthrusting as near I can with legs in splints)

*walking stiff-leggedly towards you, I reach a hand around the side of your neck and give it a subtle brush*

Aw man, your drawings always have such a three dimensional life to them. I love it!

Just because something is graphic and stylized doesn't mean it can't have deep space. Watch some John Hubley... or maybe Greg Toland sometime, you'd love him. ^^
IDK, I think I wrote something once about how 2D shapes create 3D space when they overlap. If I find it, I'll send it to you, k? <3
