"To be clear, it’s not like I was considering jumping off. I’m far too terrified of dying to ever do that. Still, fact of the matter is, you could die at any time. A small mistake, a slip up of yourself or someone else, a simple lapse of your luck could do you in. In contrast, I always thought there might be some sort of comfort in knowing when I’ll die. I wouldn’t have to worry about anything until then, after all. That was why I first had morbid thoughts like that. Believing I had control over it was better than believing I might not."
