Description "There would be no eulogies for Bob. No photographs of his body would be sold in sundry stores. No people would crowd the streets in the rain to see his funeral cortege. No biographies would be written about him, no children named after him. No one would ever pay twenty-five cents to stand in the rooms he grew up in. The shotgun would ignite, and Ella-May would scream, but Robert Ford would only lay on the floor and look at the ceiling, the light going out of his eyes before he could find the right words."

From The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (link takes you to the movie trailer) starring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck.

Absolutely one of the best movies I've ever seen. It leaves a lingering taste in your mouth that you chew on long after the movie is finished. It's not a story of heroes and villains, but a story of human beings. Affleck delivers a stunning, haunting performance as Bob Ford that I desperately wanted to capture in an image, but I knew before I even attempted that it would be impossible to duplicate what that man put on screen.

Bob Ford has to be one of the most tragic characters I've seen in a film. Ever.

When I saw that "the Assassination of Jesse James" had almost no fanart for it, I just had to contribute something in its memory. This image is inspired by the assassination scene.

If you're into movie soundtracks, I also highly suggest this one. Song for Bob I listened to constantly while drawing this. It gives me shivers to listen to it.

He did kill Jesse James, but his method was cowardly. Shooting a unarmed man in the head. Nice depiction.

I really should watch this movie...that quote and your art? Makes me more than curious.

Your art skills...you were always great, but this is beyond great. What happened?! Was it art classes? Maybe I should take some too? I can but gape.

This is such a great movie! And a great art as well. I like how you captured this moment in particular, Affleck's expression is fantastic.

Dang. That is some FANCY COLORING. o_o Seriously, I just...want to poke his face or something. That looks fantastic.

As for the movie, I've never seen it...let alone heard of it, to be honest. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lol, thank you thank you! I spent a long time on the coloring and somehow changed styles halfway through, so it took extra long to go back and redo all the shading!

I hadn't heard of this movie either until some guy at CD Tradepost recommended it to me. I'd been on a western kick, and he had nothing but praise for the film. I think it came out in like 2007. The score has some songs that I regularly skip over (though most scores have at least a few weak songs), but overall it's amazingly effective both on its own and especially in what it adds to the film. My favorites from the score are "What Must Be Done," "Song for Bob," "Rather Lovely Thing," and "The Money Train." The whole soundtrack has a certain melancholy, thoughtful air to it. It's like a narration of the story without any words.

er... Actually, he recommended "True Grit" for me and Jesse James to one of my summer housemates so we watched it together. Oh well, same gist! I love CD Tradepost!
