You should take a look at this photographer's gallery - their pieces are great!

Beautiful, looks very realistic. The colors, depth, shading, and highlights create such a magnificent piece. I really wish I could draw like that. Keep up the good work!

Greetings fellow Improvement-Club member~ *waves*

When browsing through the thumbs in my watches, I was like, "What is this awesome animal portrait doing here?" That's how great of a job I think you've put into this. ^^

Clueless about anatomy, so I'm skipping that. As for depth, I think adding more contrast would help. Overall, there's a flatness in the face and even the mane, but I do see some pushed shadows so you're on the right track. Try sprinkling some more exaggerated shading and highlights all over the image. Also, shortening some strokes to foreshorten fur, such as the area above the snout, would add texture that probably produce better illusion of depth. That area currently looks really flattened with the longer strokes, in my opinion.

Hope my thoughts help. Again, great job on this lion. ^^

Really? Thank you, I'm flattered to hear your opinion on my work ^^

Yes, I agree about the contrast... I tried to add more shadows\highlights to it, but since it was my first time working on a toned surface, I was failing to incorporate the color and my picture began to look messy. This forced me to down tone the whole lion a bit  I appreciate the commentary about the shorter fur strokes - I think I got carried away there! You are absolutely correct - it would definitely increase foreshortening, and thus, depth.

Thank you again for the comment! You pointed out some things I didn't notice, and was very helpful in that way! ^^
