Chapter 2:
The Beginning of Everything~ The Meeting of Fate

As the medal flipped in the air, it shone with a golden flash, it was replaced by an Aerosteon, a blue dinosaur with a yellow mane, a black underside, what seemed to be yellow eyebrows, and etcetera. As the battle began, Joe Wildwest started to give me advice on what to do. My Aerosteon was the faster dinosaur out of the two, so he got to go first. Taking use of the exclusive advice about my vivosaur, I took command, "Use Wind Blast, Aerosteon!" Aerosteon roared, and a massive vortex of harsh, razor-sharp winds surrounded him, spreading wildly. The winds spread out until they smacked straight into the Allosaurus.

"Great job, kid! You're a natural!" Joe called out, from a distance with Todd.

"Keep going, Dina! It looks like you're winning!" Todd yelled. The Allo roared even more ferociously, louder than before. "Or maybe not." he squeaked. I ignored the two of them and instead focused on the battle. The Allosaurus lunged toward my partner, Aerosteon, with a ferocious Allo Bite.

"Dodge it!" I screamed. It moved quickly out of the way, and the attack missed. The Allo roared in outrage and hurdled straight toward Aerosteon, going in a for a headbutt. In a strange vision, a battle scenario of the two vivosaurs flashed through my head, confused, I suddenly, and unconsciously nod and yell out, "Aerosteon, slide underneath it, and lift your legs!" I commanded, unsure what I had just done. Aero apparently understood, did what seemed like a nod, charges speedily toward the Allo and slid underneath the Allo, raking its soft belly with his sharp and powerful claws. The Allosaurus screeched in pain. I braced myself for a counter attack to land on my vivosaur, but the Allo shook its head, and froze, toppling over and then turning back into a medal.

Suddenly, as the thrill and excitement (and my adrenaline rush) faded away, I felt woozy and exhausted. "Wha-what happened to the Allo!?" I stammered tiredly, yet still in shock. I fell over in a daze.

"Gotcha!" said Todd as he caught me, having me lean against his shoulder.

"Well, I reckon' ya just beat that Allo, if ya ask me. Mighty finely, too. But be careful next time, battles'll really drain ya." Joe stated as he picked the medal off the ground.

"Why was the Allo so angry, Mr. Wildwest?" Todd asked.

"Just call me Joe, kid. And I'll betcha that this 'ere vivosaur was abandoned by a reckless, or cruel fighter." he explained. My Aerosteon, worried about my condition, nudged the top of my head, since it's so tall, and looked at me.

"I guess that there Aerosteon has taken a real shine to ya', kid." Joe mused.

"Yeah, I think so." I said, patting my vivosaur's side, meekly.

"Ya know what? This fella looks real happy bein' with you, and after seein' your fightin' skills, pard, I'll let ya keep him." Joe said.

I stared at him, too amazed and bewildered to speak, or do anything really. I think my eyes were actually tearing up, too. I got off Todd and tried to stand by myself, but instead I fell down on top of Aerosteon. "Heh, cat got ya tongue?" he joked, amused. "Well, aw shucks, where are my manners? As your buddy said, I'm Joe Wildwest."

"I'm Lila Tatakai" I managed to say.

"Hey don't forget about me!" Todd said, in a sorta unnecessary volume. "Oh sorry, um.. well, I'm Todd Minaraiko," he stammered. Then Todd turned to me. "I'm jealous of you Lila. If my stupid stomach didn't hurt, I could of had had the chance to battle!!" If there was a time for an anime-style sweat-drop, it was right then. I grinned in apology and shrugged.

"Well, I gotta run, kids. Maybe we can meet again! Adios!" Joe Wildwest called, as he took off on his Ptera.

"Wow," said Todd. "I can't believe what just happened today. First, there was the Allosaurus, and then we were running for our lives, and..." and Todd went on and on while I tuned out. While he was busy doing that, I felt that I forgot to do something.

(Aw crud. I had it earlier~!! Oh well.)

I petted Aerosteon's side, and whispered to him, "You did a great job today, Aerosteon. But since your whole name's a little long, I'll just call you Aero. How about that?" I asked. He flashed a toothy grin at me and shrunk back into a Dino medal. "Well," Todd said. "How about we go back home, Dina? It's getting late." I smiled and nodded.

With my new partner in hand, me and Todd raced back home, where we made a promise to become the best Fossil Fighters we possibly could. Not like I already wasn't planning to become one if we didn't vow to, though. For me, I'm going to try for one of the best fighters. Maybe, someday, a champion. But who knows what things'll be like in my future. I'm still going to train for this dream, regardless.

(But seriously, "Joe"!!?)
