Chapter 8:
The Truth

  I woke up in the very room I woke up in not too long ago. But this time, there were a whole bunch of people staring down at me. They looked down expectantly when they saw my eyes open, as if they expected me to transform or something. I rolled my eyes at that thought and got out of the bed, some of them making room for me as I did so. But, this time, I knew immeadiately what had happened when I woke up. Nonetheless, the head doctor, Todd and some of the nurses jumped in and tried to explain, in a bluster, what had caused me to black out. For the second time.

Once they were finished, Todd gave me a bit of startling news, "Uh, Lila, you've been stuck in here for about a week now; the first match is going to be today," he said quickly, expecting my shocked expression. And he was right in that regard. I stared at him, stunned. "Yeah I hope this helped you out, 'cuz this time we're fightin' for real. And don't freak out, please, I can feel your emotions, and you went off on a T-Rex level rampage, kid."

"Oh dear, I hope it wasn't TOO scary for you, 'oh almighty Aerosteon'," I mocked.

'Very funny, Lil'', Aero muttered sourly. Then our little video-communicator watches, also known as paleopagers, beeped, the announcer. He announced the match-ups for the our first, actual, battle (I scowled), apologizing to the miscellaneous that had failed in the try-outs. At first, I neglected to listen to the parings, until we heard a very "special" bit of news: I was facing HIM in the next round. My best friend. I didn't know what to do; what to say. Todd was flabbergasted. You could see it right on his face, along with a look of dismay. Anyone would have that if they knew they were about to face their best friend. And apparently we both felt the same; We just exchanged a grim glance at each other, and left. I made all of my preparations, got my inhaler, and left.

I got back to my apartment, and fixed a bunch of wrongs: got rid of the hospital gown, tied my hair back in the usual sideways ponytail, grabbed my satchel that Todd returned when I was at the hosptial, and grabbed a container of something I was sure I would be needing, very soon, and possibly very oftenly.

          {One Hour Later, at the Fighter's Stadium.... Whatever it was}

I met Todd back at the Fighter's Stadium. Todd didn't look very happy. I never enjoyed seeing him so unhappy, like when we were younger- always bullied 'cuz he looked like a girl, but seriously, if ya add some extensions to his hair- voila- looks just like a girl. Then something flashed through my head. It was a memory of that incident 2 years ago, back on that mountain, when we were about to be eaten alive by an Allo, if it wasn't for Joe Wildwest. I remember I swore something, something that should have been done 2 years ago.....

   And....

I slapped him. It most likely hurt. A lot.

"OW!!" yelped Todd. "What was that for Lila??!!"

"For two years ago. And do stop worrying so much Todd. It upsets me to see you like this." I chatised. He grimaced. "Sorry, Lila.." he said, giving a slightly awkward/nervous laugh. " I guess there's nothing we can do about this now. There's supposed You're right Lila, thanks."

Todd was confident about winning. It's time to show her that I'm all grown up now. And that I can take care of myself he thought. But then a horrible truth, crept into his thoughts, something Aero was also aware of. "Oh no, if Lila loses, she'll be crushed, and there's no coming back for her."

....Eh, a horrible truth of a sort. But Todd wasn't necessarily reknown for his intellect. Or reknown in any case. Except maybe a potential crossdresser. >:3

Aero had come to the realization with dread, piecing together the concusion with horror.

With Aero and Lila's special connection, the damage Aero recieves from battle transfers to Lila, if he loses and is forced back into a Dino Medal, Lila Tatakai Will Die.
