Description A wounded Red Snapper looks out at us, trapped in the contaminated water of The Gulf of Mexico; poisoned by oil and Corexit in the water. Ttoxic smoke from the explosion of The Deepwater Horizon oil rig fills the sky.  It is now 2014, almost four years after the BP Deepwater Horison Oil Spill, and the Gulf of Mexico is devasted.  Sea creatures, birds, any wildlife dependent on water outlets that come from the sea have suffered monumental destruction.  Humans also have been, and still are subjected to the toxic effects. All occupations related to the ocean and its bounty have ended or been drastically curtailed.  The health of the people, the environment and all living things is under a death sentence daily.

I grew up by the sea, and can't imagine the enormous courage it takes to face this kind of devastation in your beloved home.  Working on this series of drawings, I hope to bring awareness of the iincredible beauty of nature and with that awareness, a cultivation of understanding that we must protect, preserve and nurture our natural resources, not allow corporations to use them for profit and shamelessly allow destruction without retribution.

Another beautiful and powerful piece. I agree wholeheartedly that we should work to protect our planet and the creatures that share it with us...its so sad that greedy corporations seem to be the final voice over what lives and dies.

I appreciate your acknowledgement and support very much.  We are standing up to the Corporate Mindset -- change is happening.  (Just cheering us both up.)

Great work! It is very dramatic and well done. It should remind us that we are only guests here on this planet nothing less and not more...

Wow. Nǐ hǎo! Fēicháng gǎnxiè! I enjoy your work very much, so your comment means a lot to me.  Many of my teachers were from Shanghai when I studied Chinese Medicine here in the United States.  Perhaps you will be a friend here?

All the best!
