Description I'm not sure that Fantastic Planet quantifies as a B Movie, per se, but it's definitely a strange one. I remember watching this at 2 am on PBS and thinking 2 things (besides "omg I'm so f*cked up right now") 1. Brilliant animation. I just love the rendered style and 2. Wow this is really weird.

It's been a while since I've seen this film, and much of the..er...plot escapes me now. But I do remember the little kid alien and human...and also the orgy that made people glow and float.

Marker and ink 5 x7 inches.

This is surely one of the all-time classics of surreal film art.

~Love yr interpretation here of Topur's imagery. Many years ago I too spent some days with the TV on freeze-frame trying to capture some of his conceptuary. Perhaps I should post some here to keep you company

~Go here [link] for stills from the film & follow the links to UTube where there are many clips from it worth checking out.

Thanks for posting this here, hopefully it will inspire many to further check out Topur's wonderful hive-mind genre art.

This movie was one of my biggest inspirations for how my art style is now. I think it's beautiful Saw it when I was 7 or 8, couldn't stop watching it since then.
I have the soundtrack on my ipod.
I believe the plot was that humans took off in rockets after they destroyed Earch ('Terra' and landed on the Draag planet. The Draags obviously being much bigger than the Oms, were the dominant race. There's a scene where the Draag council are shown slides of a post-apocalyptic Earth. Images of wrecked cars, bridges, books, etc.

Anyways, this is a very good fanart I love the colors.

(the movie in on YouTube if you ever want to watch it again)

Haha, it is SUCH a weird movie, and I can never find anyone to talk about how weird it is with because so few people I know have seen it. It's been a while since I've seen it too, but I think the overarching plot was something like...they took us from earth and brought us to their planet to be little slaves, or we hopped on board, or...that planet WAS earth really far in the future and they settled on it? Or maybe it was like...those were our ancestors and they settled earth somewhere...else? Haha, obviously I don't really remember after all.

I had basically the same thoughts you did about it, with the addition of liking all the weird sounds the "plants" made. Anyway, the colors in this are great, and you got the eyes and expression down PERFECTLY.

It's one of those few movies you see and think "Why can't more stuff be made like this?" Them French are cuhrazy with their animation.

Glad you dig

Don't be. I actually prefer the science-fictions classics of the Masters. So anything before I was born isn't actually so strange. Just better.
