I read the diary of Ellen, and there literally is no reason for anyone to feel sorry for Ellen, she cared about no one, and cares about no one, she wants to be loved, but that doesn't mean she would care about them in return either, that man in the cell in the top floor? That was her father, (it says so in the book) and she let him suffer in there and go mad, and let her mother who suffered there aswell in a different cell.Β
She was a horrible person and deserved to have died instead of Viola. >w<

You just don't know who to pity.
It's okay to pity Viola (in ellen's body ) because she gave her body to Ellen and Ellen did not give it back. Yet, it's because of her kindness, this happened to her.
You can also pity the witch who betrayed her only friend. But all she ever wanted was love, and she thought that Viola was lying to her about feeling "Lonely"
OR. Pity the father who killed her only family without knowing.

... Nooo... It's impossible for me to feel bat for the witch. I mean, just to break it down...
She killed her parents because and fed their souls to a demon because she felt they neglected her.
She feeds countless innocent people to the demon so she can learn to magic.
She took advantage of her sickly state to befriend Viola.
Viola allowed her to switch souls with her for a day, so her friend could have some peace of mind. The moment they switch, Ellen mutilates her old body, gouging out the eyes and cutting off the legs, so Viola can't stop her from leaving. Viola's cries and screams begin to annoy Ellen, so she force feeds an acidic like chemical to silence her, and leaves her to die in the house all alone.
Then, of course the ending, Viola's on the ground begging her to help her, Ellen just laughs at her, tells her "You gave it to me, remember?" Annnddd allows the father to shoot his own daughter, and lets out a chuckle over the whole thing.
She's a lying psychopath who only cares about her well being and will drag anyone down if she's not happy, or betray anyone if it means that she'd get something out of it, she'd even torture someone because why not.
Yeah, it's easy to feel bad for her, she was just lonely... but in the end, she killed anyone who was willing to trust her. She's not lonely, she's selfish...
I've got nothing but respect for the creator of this game. It's just a simple game... but oozing with so much detail, and the villain! She's a set of pixels and text, and yet she can piss me off this much! It's amazing!

Probably she wasn't even "lonely", maybe she THOUGHT she was lonely, but the truth is that everyone ignored her because she was always doing psycopathic things like killing animals and destroying things. If that is true, then she is just a devilish creature born in a girl's body

But then again, everyone's selfish. I'd follow Ellen's steps just to know, or acknowledge love for once.. But of course, I'm not Ellen, I get showered with love everyday, and I'm healthy and happy. So I doubt I'd do that

The worst part is: This is all your (the players) fault. Remember, the demon-cat calls you Ellen BEFORE you enter the room with The Legless Girl (formerly Ellen's body, now Viola's), as well as the diary entry. So, you could have just let yourself get killed, stopping Ellen from doing anymore harm. But no, you had to finish the game. So now Viola's soul is probably gonna be eaten by that demon-cat and either be subjected to eternal torment or (more mercifully but still horrifying) destroyed forever. "What The Hell, Player?" indeed.Β

Fantastic work. The scene is just heartbreaking here, and the worst part is we know it's all down hill from here, and all because of that damned ending. I don't think I've ever turned on a character as fast as this game made me. One second, "Yay! Out of the forest and away from the-"

Oh, the game is wonderful, for sure... but then we find out this sweet little girl had been mutilated and left for dead behind the scenes by someone she called her friend. It's a real sick move on the writers part... and simply genius.Truly a tragic ending that came out of nowhere and left quite an impact, to the point of fans writing their own endings or sequel stories to soften the blow in some way or another. I've got one or two ideas rolling around in my head that I'll try to find some time to work on.

The only thing I'm upsate about it is the fact Viola's dad dosen't can't even tell the difference between his own daguther to a phoony. I mean, your suppose to be her parent! It's your job to know your child O.O
