Kingsley, born Miss Paisley's King Arthur, was a champion show dog with titles and trophies from all over the world. He was a very desirable stud in his younger days, and, as such, has fathered several litters. One of these matings would later change the dog world, although he was unaware of it at the time. He mates with Lucy, his only serious competitor in the show ring, and produces seven puppies, most of which were disastrous to look upon in the dog show world.

Kingsley never had much to do with any of his puppies, and more often than not he wouldn't recognize one if he had come across them. That is until three young dogs entered his private home. For his entire life Kingsley had been the only dog in residence, but he was soon displaced, by his own spawn no less.

Dawn is his favorite of the three, probably because he feels she is the least likely to take his place. Kennedy, on the other hand, is much to like his father for Kingsley's tastes, and the two butt heads frequently.

At the ripe old age of ten, Kingsley's life is forever changed when he is shipped off unannounced, never to return again. He ends up being rescued by the Darling's, and spends the rest of his life surrounded by his puppies, grandpuppies, and some great-grandpups too. Although he never feels quite comfortable on the farm, Kingsley does grow there, and he learns to appreciate the simpler things in life.
