Someone knew I liked cute anime and told me about Potemayo so I looked at it, and it is cute! And very weird! But anyway, I captured a frame from one of the episodes and used it as a reference. No tracing! I did this entirely in GIMP, no paper drawing or scanning, all electronic, all bitmapped.So here is Potemayo-chan, coloring all over dA.

I suppose that's possible. Although I've never seen Tokyo Mew Mew, after looking it up I see that Tokyo Mew Mew's anime first aired in 2002-2003, and Potemayo's print form (four-panel comic strip) didn't start until 2004 (the anime appeared in 2007). I suppose there's some chance that TMM inspired Potemayo, but if so there's nothing that jumps out as an obvious reference.
They do look a bit similar, but Ichigo is obviously older, and also starts out as a normal if pink-haired human, whereas Potemayo isn't a human, and her hair is only pink on top, with a gradient to orange toward its ends. Potemayo has a puffy tail the same color as her ears and has rather rudimentary feet, and her hands vary in detail from very sketchy to having actual fingers at times. Also, Potemayo and Guchuko (who is the same species, whatever they are) sprout leaves from their heads late in the series, which turn into flower buds that bloom. Maybe they're some kind of plant creatures. It's a very weird, silly series.

Thankoo! But you can hope to do all kinds of fings. If this picture had dropped through a time vortex to a couple days ago and I saw it, I would have thought, "I dunno if I can draw somefing like that." But at the time I was just thinking, "Potemayo is so cute! I want to draw her." And that made me want to push myself to try it. I still don't think I could draw her in an original pose. This is a pose from the series, where she's scribbling in a book (not a coloring book, either). But who knows? I think I got a bit better at some things by doing this. Maybe soon I'll be doing more things that right now I don't think I can do. And maybe you will too!

I actually tried to draw someting last night from a reference picture. Idea being to see how fast I could draw it to try and get my brain in da right mindset, and for once it didn't turn out horribly. I was so happy

Yep I used a picture from the anime series. But I did not trace it. I sketched it 3 times, making my sketch better each time.
