AH are you new to the Closed Species concept? basically you are buying the character, the design, for you to own/use. (to draw or commission artwork or write about ETC)
The character is yours to do as you please with, as long as it follows my terms of service! (basically don't make your own or sell your own / if you want to change the design please ask me first / don't use the design for personal money gains etc. I have a link to my TOS if you'd like to see it. )
Closed species in a nut shell are original species thought up by the species creator. They are our brainchildren. We make the species available through sales or contests and allow people to own a character that is from our original head-canon. Buying one of the above characters means you are paying me to own one of my ideas and designs, basically.
The fact that they are a 'closed' species is a telling sign too! It means you can't just make your own. You need to acquire one from either the creator or someone else trades you one ETC. There is a such thing as 'open' species too! Meaning you can make your own freely. My species are all closed species though because i regulate how many are out there ETC.
Payment is usually through actual real money, or on DA some people offer Points for their species. Sometimes people trade art or other things for one! It's not all about money though, i regularly run free contests ETC so people who cant afford my adopts through money means can have a chance at one of my species too.
