Yeah the anatomy on this kitty sucks, but at least the colours are nice..? Red isn't realistic on a cat, I know, but it's a cool contrast, no?

I think it's ok to do, as long as the artist that traces 1) Credits the original artist, 2) does not claim the art as only their own, 3) Does not make money off the art (at least without the original artist getting the Majority/ Equal Cut) and 4) Uses the tracing as a way to improve their own art.

Tracing should be used as a tool to gain skill, and it is a good thing when it is used properly. In truth, I trace a lot of things (though I have never posted any), and since I've begun I have experienced a noticeable improvement in my skills - *especially* in things like anatomy and line work. The only problems I have with tracing is if the artist claims it is completely their original art, or makes money off the art without any going to the original artist - otherwise, go for it! It can help you try new styles or mediums and get the basics down quick so you can do it on your own in the future.
