“Hey, umm… Claire, can I talk to you for a second? I want to ask you something.”“Sure Shaine…” I said as I walked over to my locker. “So, what is it?” I asked while searching for my history books.
“Well,” he started, “I was just wondering if… well…” he paused as he tried to gather his thoughts. “You know, just wondering if you… if you’d like to, umm… I KNOW! If you’d like to talk a survey!”
“Oh… uhh sure? What’s it for and what’s it ‘bout?” I asked.
“Seeing… urm, if… seeing who likes… SOCCER BETTER THAN TENNIS! Yeah, that’s it. So uhh… which would you say?” Shaine asked laughing nervously.
“Shaine, are you really going to ask me that? We’ve been best friends for over 12 years! Plus, I’m on the SOCCER team. I think that should answer it,” I replied.
