I've been working on a hetalia fan fiction that is a adaptation of the Wizard of Oz being told with Hetalia characters.Tino (Finland) has replaced Dorothy, (spots on his cheeks are not girly blushes, but where the good warlock kissed him before his journey because anyone kissed by the witch/warlock of the North is protected against people who would do them physical harm. Them smooches don't fade cause they magic!)
Denmark (called Mathias in the fic) has replaced the Scarecrow.
Norway (called Siguard in the fic) has replaced the Tin woodsman.
and Berwald (Sweden) has replaced the cowardly lion.
And a lot of other characters too, I'm not going to list them here as it may ruin surprises, but basically everyone that can be replaced with a hetalia character is being so.
This is how they look in my mind while I'm writing. (Don't freak out about Berwald's hair being long, as a lion, he has a mane, but don't worry, it gets trimmed to the usual springy mess that is Berwald's canon hair cut later on down the road, I've just not written that chapter yet.)

Artwork and adaptation for the story by myself. I feel awkward about plugging my fic, as I'm not really advertising by uploading it here, I just wanted somewhere to put it so the people who like my fic can see it easily. I have to say I know nothing about the original story, I've only heard the title Wizard of Oz, and that's about it ^^' so I have no clue how this all is going to end
...your drawings have quite a difference to the ones I have in my head. But they're all very well written, and I love your Denmark :3 so many fanfics include very irritating Denmarks... and of course I'm waiting for the deepening of relationship of Tino's and Ber's ;3
And as for side note, I was glad to see that you changed Ber's accent into easier one ^^

I am trying to keep it... semi-close to the book in terms of plot progression, the order in which Tino encounters his obstacles, the general things are all being based heavily from the book but the actual writing is all original. I can't stand fanficition that is, basically, a script of the movie/book with just the names of the characters replaced. It drives me out of my skin.
Oh, I'm sorry the drawings are different. Are they different in a bad way? How did you imagine them to look? (I like hearing about these kinds of things : D )
Oh Mathias is annoying in his own way, it's just that's not his only character trait. I like to see him as a far deeper character than some people portray him as. He's kind of a ding bat, yes, but he's also energetic, friendly, and is willing to take on the role of being a leader. He's quite admirable, even if he is a bit annoying, loud, brash, and WAY TOO HONEST. XD
The deepening will come soon. Tino, now, isn't so much afraid of Berwald as respectfully distant. He doesn't want to bother Berwald, he doesn't realize that Berwald WANTS Tino to come over and bother him. Right now they're at a really awkward stage of adjusting to each other's company. Berwald is still too anxious to invite Tino to be his friend, and Tino is still concerned with being a pest.
I'm actually really glad people complained about the old one. It was hard to write and it broke the flow. I only initially did it because I thought fans of Berwald's would object to him being too easy to understand. I'm glad it was the fans themselves who said: "No, make him easier to understand" because, if I'm being honest, the easier he is for you to understand the easier it is for me to write his dialog! XD

Same thing, I also dislike fics where only the characters are replaced, and on top of that usually badly written.
Your drawings are not different in a bad way ^^ It's just because I'm not familiar with the story (and English is not my main language) so I was like whoa, so this tinman is really tin XD and that sort of things. And I guess I imagine characters more cute ^^' Berwald in different outfit and fur over his neck, not long hair, and about your Denmark here in this drawing I have to say he looks more evil than in my head :3

Ah. Suomi. Olen pahoillani. Denmark isn't evil. He's "leering" it's kind of like a suggestive smile, or a naughty or teasing kind of look. XD But the smile, I drew it wrong, so it looks evil. XD I promise. Mathias isn't even in the story, I just doodle in pen and find that there is no erasing and fixing it. XD

Because in Hetalia canon the character Tino (Finland) actually owns a little white dog named Hanatamago. So when I redid this I was like: "Well shit, Hanatamago is the perfect Toto and s/he works perfectly because I wanted Tino to replace Dorothy : D " But I didn't want to make Hanatamago black, he's cute just the way he is. XD

Something I've come to realize. I may like something, but I may hate fans of it! I like anime, but I hate most bat-shit insane Otaku. I like Star Trek, but some of those trekkies I would never associate myself with.
My family seems to associate Star Trek with bat shit insane trekkies, and so it's hard to say to them: "Look, I like Star Trek, but I like it for what it is. Just a television show. I HATE it when people seem to lose touch with reality and start LIVING for Star Trek. It's just a show, it's not worth learning Klingon for when I could devote that time to an ACTUAL language!"
