History:
(TL;DR: Finny was born to a family of seven kids and because his parents couldn’t afford them all, Finny was one of the kids that was given away. He worked as a miner for a year and a half before he ran away to find Keiran. He eventually found him at Godsglaow asylum and applied to work there so that he could be close to his brother. Several months later, Finnian began to see and hear things- and then he came down with a fever. Nothing would bring it down, but no one knew why. At Tuan’s confirmation that the boy had been possessed by a daegra, they admitted him to the asylum.)
Finnian called himself the second oldest of seven children, despite only being born a minute before his twin brother. In a family filled to the brim with girls, Finnian and Connall (Connie) were attached to the hip for a long time. Despite it being March, it was practically Christmas when their younger brother, Keiran was born. The age difference made it difficult to ever be completely close, though, and Keiran ended up being closer to Fiona (the middle child of the family)rather than to Finnian and Connall. However, Finnian, Connall, and Keiran still had great memories of playing together.
Unfortunately, seven children was hard for the family to support, and Finnian’s parents ended up giving away half of their children as Pauper Apprentices so that they could save their family from starving. Finnian was separated from his twin and given away to a coal miner. For a year and a half, he worked in the coal mines and saved up as much as he could before he ran away to find his little brother.
By the time he finally found Mr. Beasley’s farm, he was nearly out of money and Keiran wasn’t there anymore. Thankfully, a kind woman informed him that Keiran was in Godsglaow asylum and that Finny had just enough money to get to the city it was near by train.
Once he arrived in the city, Finnian had absolutely no idea how to get to Godsglaow. He’d asked a few people, but they were either too in a hurry to stop or they just didn’t know where it was. Finally, he spotted a tall African man who was only standing and not rushing anywhere. Quickly, he approached him and asked if he happened to know where Godsglaow Asylum was. Coincidentally, the man was an employee of the asylum and Finnian thanked him profusely for the directions before dashing off.
Visiting his brother turned into a permanent stay when Finnian asked and was accepted to work at the asylum. He worked as one of the janitors at the asylum. It sometimes got disgusting, but Finnian reminded himself that anything was better than not knowing if the ceiling was going to collapse on you and bury you alive. When he worked, he worked hard and diligently, and no one could complain about his work ethic. (Though everyone complained about his teasing nature.)
One day, Finny was getting ready and taking care of his morning hygiene when he saw a figure in his bathroom mirror- standing just behind him. It didn’t look human. Finnian turned around quickly but nothing was there and when he looked back in the mirror, it was gone. A sinking feeling settled in his stomach as he recalled Keiran telling him, “I’m being possessed by a fairy. Nearly everyone here is. And you get special powers from it. Don’t worry, my fairy is...good. There’s no way to stop possession, apparently.”
Finnian had just shaken it off, though. There was no way he was being possessed. He was just tired. It could have been the way the light was hitting the mirror.
(But he was being possessed. A daegra called Balor was frantically looking for a body when he came across Finnian. Finnian was young, strong, and healthy. Most importantly, though, Balor thought that it would be easy to break Finny’s will down. Balor wasn’t a nice daegra at all. He made it his goal to break Finnian down so much that there would be nothing left of him by the time they fused.)
Over the week, Finnian had been plagued with hearing growls that “weren’t there” and visions of a demon out of the corner of his eye or through reflective surfaces. Keiran thought that Finnian seemed a little jumpy and paranoid, but he thought that perhaps his older brother had a bad dream. When Keiran asked Finnian if he was okay, the 18 year old would say he was fine, anyways.
Tuan, the African man who had given him directions to reach the asylum, had returned on the morning Finnian was being admitted into the infirmary. The teenager had a fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and despite putting him into a tub full of ice cubes, his temperature wasn’t lowering at all. None of the nurses could figure out why, and they were all panicking. However, Tuan took one look at him and knew. Despite Finnian’s denial, he was admitted into the asylum as an official patient.
Power: Hellfire
Ability 1: Dragonsbreath- Finnian can breathe smoke and fire that emits poisonous fumes. The effects happen immediately, but they’re not lethal. The fumes can affect anything from people to plants. It’s not a good idea to serve food or drinks heated by this fire (unless you want to poison someone).
Tier 1: Victims suffer dizziness and headaches for 24 hours.
Tier 2: Victims suffer nausea and a rise in body temperature for 14 hours.
Tier 3: Victims suffer from vomiting blood and high fever for 10 hours.
Ability 2: Hell’s Gauntlets- The skin on Finny’s hands and lower arms turn into molten lava. Not only does it appear to be lava, it has the burning heat that real lava has as well. Whatever Finny touches with his hands will burn, and if he keeps his hands there long enough, he can melt down walls if he pleases. On people and animals, if he brushes against them just slightly with these hands, that area will still burn pretty badly. However, if water is poured onto Finnian’s hands, it will cool down to solid rock for a length of time before it returns to being lava again.
Tier 1: After water is poured onto his hands, it takes 10 minutes for it to return to lava.
Tier 2: After water is poured on his hands, it takes 7 minutes for it to return to lava.
Tier 3: After water is poured on his hands, it takes 5 minutes for it to return to lava.
Ability 3: Balor’s eye- When activated, just by looking at the target, Finnian can do damage. If hidden behind something, it will take some time for the eye to affect it, though. The thicker the barrier, the better for you!
Tier 1: It becomes uncomfortably hot (plants wither at his gaze).
Tier 2: It’s so hot that it’s turning red. Impossible to touch items (but if you have thick gloves on you might be able to). May see a little smoke!
Tier 3: Everything’s catching on fire! London’s burning, london’s burning!
